We’ve vacationed on some truly beautiful beaches, including Hawaii, but Popham is the best. The beach is pristine, and never crowded. Our son loves playing on the beach, and we feel very safe there are few people and no large waves. The bunk beds were perfect since our Jacob wanted to bring a friend this year. The accomodations are always clean and comfortable, and the grounds are well maintained, which is another reason we come back every year

We had our best friends with us and enjoyed Happy Hour on the deck 5 nights out of 7. The view is spectacular with the islands out front and the ocean so calm! I was surprised (but happy) that the ocean wasn’t colder. We had a bonfire one night (I played my guitar) -- it was hilarious, especially watching our Golden bark at the fire!

The boys loved Fort Popham and were very enthused about the underground Fort Baldwin. I loved sitting on the beach reading, and taking a moonlight stroll down the beach with my wife. This vacation was perfect: relaxing and romantic for me and my wife, yet not boring for our boys.

Ellie and Seth invited Bill and me to join them on thier Maine vacation. I had visions of a very "log cabin rustic" vacation and I wasn't escited. Even so, we decided to join them. Boy am I glad we did! First, the place was great and right on the beach! We loved sitting on the deck, eating and gabbing and drinking! And Bill and I walked the beach every night. It was very relating and I never saw so many stars. It's really clear up there. Ellie and I beached it most days, catching up on our reading. Bill and Seth fished and actually bought home dinner a couple of times. We are already planning to go back in 2020 (in 2019, Bill and I are taking a European cruise).

Untill now, Sandy and I have chosen a different vacation spot every year, and last year, our girls said it was boring. This year, we chose Popham Beach. My wife and I are pretty easy to satisfy as long as the beach is clean and not too crowded. Our girls, not so much. But, they LOVED it! They didn't want to leave the beach, even for dinner. I think the islands had something to do with it. Our oldest, Samantha, loves to daydream and the islands fed her imagination. We heard at least 4 storylines from her while we were there. So, no more scouting around for the "best vacation spot." We found it!

I grew up in Maine and often visited Popham Beach with my parents. Jen grew up in PA and had only ever been to the Jersey shore. When we got married in 2016, I promised her a Popham vacation; meantime, we woud visit my folks and I'd take her on a day trip. While we visitig, we met an amazingly friendly man who said he would rent to us in 2017. When I saw where his cottage is, I was sold. It's got the best views and the ocean is right in front. Jen was amazed at how clean and relatively empty the beach was, and couldn't wait to come back. When we came back in 2017, we were surprised the accommodations were so good, since the price was very affordable. We ate lobster; went clamming, and drove up to Bothbay one day to take a seal-watch cruise. And on another day, Jen wanted to visit Freeport and LL Beans. Can't say enough good things about this place. We are already planning to come back next year.

Mary & Jack B.,
When we first came to Maine to visit with some friends, they brought us to Popham Beach. I fell in love with it! Now, we're here every year, We love the panoramic views of the beach and the islands when we're relaxing on the deck which we do every evening! This year, we walked to Fox and Wood Islands over the sandbars at low tide (and got back before the tide came back in!). The boardwalk to the beach that the Marsh's put in is a life-saver for me, and the beach is so clean and flat that I have no trouble walking it with my husband. My husband loves cooking on the grill, and I love not having to cook at all! Really, there is nothing like the feeling of calm and rejuvenation we get at Popham. Even our dog, Sadie, loves it. The Marsh's are great hosts and everything is so comfortable. We’ve been coming back to the Marsh’s cottage for 10 years, since 2006.

Sophie & Norm G.,
Ever since we met John on the beach in 2014 and found out we could rent their place, we’ve come back every year. In fact, as soon as we get home from one vacation, I send them a check and reserve for the next year. Weather is great, beach is spectacular, and the house is always neat and clean. We love: grilling on the porch and then eating al fresco on the deck; long relaxing evenings walking the beach; day trips to Boothbay; breakfast at Spinney's. Just thinking about it, I'm ready to go back. AND we can bring our dog!
