About the Property
Custom built English Tudor style home located on a 400 acre ranch. This secluded ranch borders Cal Poly State University property and is situated 2.3 miles from Highway 1 on a part paved/ part all-weather gravel road. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and sleeps 8-10 with a king, 3 queens and 2 twin beds. It has hardwood floors and granite counter tops. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an adjoining sitting area where guests can relax on a couch, enjoy the expansive view and chat with the chef while he or she prepares meals. The library is stocked with an eclectic collection of books. The home has high speed satellite internet access and good cell phone reception. There are 2 HD flat screen TV's (the downstairs TV is 47') connected to a satellite dish which provides premium channel programming. Each TV has a DVD player with a selection of titles. The living room, with its mahogany paneling, leather couches and piano arrayed before a magnificent fireplace, is reminiscent of a British gentleman's club or hunting lodge. Outside, the patio and garden have ample seating with both a wood-burning Santa Maria style bbq and conventional propane grill for your outdoor cooking experience. During the wet months, the outdoor fire pit is ideal for roasting hotdogs, marshmellos or just sitting around the fire under the stars.Mike Kirschner, one of the owners' sons, lives in the stable building located approximately 100 yards downhill from the main house and is available to answer questions or help guests with any problems that may arise during their stay.Guests are encouraged to bring their hiking boots and binoculars. The ranch is surrounded by rural Cal Poly property with its extensive system of dirt roads on which one can literally bike or hike for miles. For a more adventuresome and secluded experience, guests are welcome to explore the ranch itself which is home to deer, turkeys, coyotes, raptors and other native animals and birds. Those energetic enough to hike to the top of the ridge above the house will be treated to a spectacular view of Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo in the valley below and the Pacific Ocean ten miles distant.Whether you are visiting this area to sample its world-famous wines and restaurants, to explore its pristine coastline or simply to relax and unwind, you'll be glad you selected the Stenner Creek ranch as your home away from home during your stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this private and beautiful setting. The house has everything you might need and the hosts were helpful and responsive.

We celebrated a family Thanksgiving at Stenner Creek Ranch. The house seems like it was someone’s dream house come true. It is very private and lots of places to hike—walk out any door and there you are— and only a couple of miles from town.

A Wonderful location, made the Christmas we spent there Wonderful. Close enough to SLO to take advantage of restaurants and shopping and Holiday events but in the Country and filled with Open spaces and peaceful natural beauty. Enough room for all the family and an amazing fireplace that couldn’t have been more perfect for the Holidays. The owners were kind enough to search for a Christmas tree and have have it set up in a stand with lights waiting for us when we arrived. There were also 8 deer running up the hills near the house the day after Christmas , coincidence?! The house has plenty of bedding and towels , bedrooms are on 2 levels which worked fine for us . Glad to have had this great experience!

My family was very impressed with the quality of the house and all the furnishings! The beds were very comfortable! We have stayed at many locations both in the US and Europe and by far this was our best experience!

The luxury home part of the description is definitely correct, and our three generation family of 8 including second and sixth graders were very comfortable. We were there on one of the perfect weather weekends, so the 400 acres with rolling green hills were gorgeous. The outdoor area with the Santa Maria bbq was great, and we roasted marshmallows after dinner over our wood fire. You definitely want to arrive in daylight, and we chose to cook dinner there each night rather than go into SLO. Day trips to Montana de Oro State Park, Cayucos, coastal bluffs, Morror Bay, and SLO gave us a lot to do during the day. I hope we can go back!

We enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable home! It was close to the college which was nice.

My group had an amazing time staying at this house. The pictures were spot on to what we experienced there. The kitchen was fully stocked with the tools to cook breakfast and dinners. We couldn't connect to the Wifi but still had 5 bars out in the valley, so it wasn't much of a problem. The communication with Chuck on planning to visit this place has been top notch. He always responded to my emails within a few hours. Thank you for making my first VRBO visit as smooth as possible. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone with a large group that wants to get away from the city life.

Beautiful landscape and matching house. The house is just far enough away from SLO but close enough to still Uber.

The house was perfect for 8 guys to stay in comfortably. Lots of privacy but close enough to downtown SLO. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and organized. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Chuck for everything!
