About the Property
Sea View Bungalow is situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood, and offers a stunning view of the ocean. Just off Sunset Cliffs Blvd., in the small town atmosphere of Ocean Beach, this charming 1-bd/1-ba cottage sits on the crest of a hill. It's less than three blocks from the water, and a short walk north to the fishing pier and main beach. Special features include a sit-down ocean view from the kitchen and living room, as well as from the spacious, tree-shaded deck. Cook inside in the fully-equipped kitchen, or outside on the gas grill. There is a queen-size bed in the bedroom, and a remarkably comfortable queen-size sofa sleeper in the living room. Nearby are restaurants, stores, taverns, coffee houses, antique shops, and a great Wednesday afternoon farmers' market. Sea World, Seaforth Marina, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla are easily accessable by car, as are Balboa Park and Zoo, and Downtown San Diego, with its Gaslamp Dist. and Sea Port Village. Harbor Drive will take you to the airport and to downtown San Diego with its Convention Center, Gas Lamp District, Petco Park, and Coronado Bridge. Nearby is Balboa Park with its museums, theaters, gardens, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Sea View Bungalow offers a great view from its living room and its large deck off the front of the house. Amenities include a barbecue grill, cable TV, a VCR/DVD, a well-equipped kitchen, and a tub and shower. Sea View Bungalow is close to surfing, tide pools, a skateboard park, Cabrillo National Monument, Point Loma Lighthouse, deep-sea fishing and diving, sailing, kayaking, tennis, and golf. Sea World, Mission Bay and Sail Bay are just across the bridge. On the bay side of the point, pick up a deep-sea fishing charter in the old Portuguese fishing village of Point Loma, home to the San Diego Yacht Club -- and Humphrey's by the Bay on Shelter Island. A short scenic drive from Point Loma around the harbor takes you to the airport, Harbor Island, and the downtown waterfront. On this beautiful bay, you can tour the Aircraft Carrier Museum, the Santa Maria replica, and the old Star of India sailing ship. Or you can take a harbor cruise. If you stroll further down the bay past the cruise ship docks, you'll come to Seaport Village where you can eat, shop, or have an espresso at Upstart Crow, a family-owned bookstore. Continue south to the waterfront park for the outdoor concerts; or take the ferry across the bay to Coronado Island for lunch or dinner. Walk up Broadway to Horton Plaza, guaranteed a one-of-a-kind mall. A block or two farther will take you to the Gas Lamp District, with its great old architecture, sidewalk restaurants, and teeming nightlife. If you take the Laurel exit off Harbor Drive and follow it up the steep hill to its end, you'll be in Balboa Park, location of the San Diego Zoo, the Old Globe Theater, Japanese Garden, eight museums, the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center, and the IMAX Theater. Old Town and Presidio Park, the first European settlement in California, are just two exits north of Laurel Street on I-5. |

This was my second stay at Elizabeth's bungalow in Ocean Beach, and being more familiar with the area, it was even better than my first visit. Ocean Beach is my dream location, and Elizabeth's cottage is neat, clean, just the right size to provide a home feeling without having a lot to take care of, has a washer/dryer out back (a real asset!), and is located in a quiet neighborhood on a hillside with a modest ocean view and it's own outdoor patio. Everything you need to chill out from the world and feel both away from everything and close to everything. My favorite spot in town is Dog Beach, located about a mile down the road, where people bring their dogs to play and romp in the water. Coming here by myself to visit my daughter, and not knowing anyone in town, Dog Beach was a great place to both dog and people watch, and a friendly place where people are relaxed and easy to engage in conversation. My second favorite spot in Ocean Beach is the People's Co-op on Voltaire, also about a mile from Elizabeth's, and an awesome health food store with a simple and inexpensive cafeteria style restaurant upstairs. Elizabeth lives right next to the cottage and was always helpful when I needed anything. She loaned me extra cooking utensils when I had to make a special dinner, let me check out late, and offered me an extra parking spot off the street behind the cottage. All in all, I can't imagine a better place to stay when in San Diego, not to mention how reasonable the room was!! Makes staying at a hotel crazy.

We stayed in the ocean view bungalow for nine days while visiting our son who's in the Navy. It was the ideal home away from home for us...and we were sad to leave when our time was up!! We absolutely loved the location... perfect for going for walks to the shore in the morning (and chatting with the curious parrots!!!), sunsets in the evening, and to the awesome, laid-back town of Ocean Beach!! The bungalow provided us everything we needed for our stay..and it was a pleasure meeting Jonathon and Elizabeth, who were right there if you needed anything at all (like a large salad bowl that I needed for the one dinner that i made for my kids while i was on vacation!). The weather was a little on the cool side for our week.. but we still soaked up every bit of sunshine possible (which was amazing after a very long Michigan winter!!) ...and I was still able to have a morning cup of coffee out on the deck with a beautiful ocean view and hummingbirds in the tree overhead!! Would definately love to return again to "our" ocean beach bungalow!! Thank you Jonathon and Elizabeth for your hospitality...we hope to meet again!!

My husband and I are just finishing up our stay here and we already made plans to book again. The bungalow was just perfect for us. Elizabeth made the whole process from the contract to the payment to arrival very easy. The place is exactly as pictured. It's an older construction Ocean Beach home but maintained very well. It's located on a quiet street with little foot traffic. The ocean view from the living room is beautiful and there was always a nice breeze. The place was spotless and came stocked with the essentials. They even had back up toiletries and sunscreen. The kitchen came fully equipped and had a small fridge. Along with everything Elizabeth had listen on the site there was also some books, boardgames, VHS, and DVDs. It was especially nice to have wifi. The bed and sofa sleeper were very comfy and the linens were fresh and soft. I just loved how the bungalow felt like a home away from home. And the street parking wasn't an issue at all. We came home past 1am some nights and always had a close spot. We can't wait to come back.

So much better than a motel. What a wonderful little house in a nice quiet neighborhood. Perfect size house for two. Great view of the sunset from the patio. Super location to Sunset Cliffs, just a few blocks to the pier and beach and to the farmers market on Wednesday. Elizabeth was very helpful to get us everything we needed. It was very quiet and relaxing. Comfortable bed. We certainly plan to come back!

The little house is in a great location for so many of the wonderful San Diego attractions. It is very cozy with a very comfortable bed. Great deck to view the fabulous sunsets! Elizabeth helped us with all our needs. We liked it so much better than a motel. Nice and quiet. We just loved it.

What a little gem in Ocean Beach -- one of my favorite spots to visit! The bungalow is comfortable, clean and very well-equipped, with a wonderful patio looking out to the ocean. (The photo of the view does not do it justice!) The location is perfect for long walks along Sunset Cliffs, or a short stroll to the shops and restaurants around Newport Avenue and on to Dog Beach! Although so close to everything in OB, it is a very peaceful location (except for the local wild parrots, which are quite fascinating!). There is always plenty of street parking available right in front of the cottage. For those of you visiting OB for the first time, you must remember to go to the Farmers' Market on Newport Avenue -- a tradition on Wednesdays. I always hate leaving San Diego to return to the east coast, and this trip was no exception. Now, if Elizabeth and Jonathan could just find me an affordable cottage in OB .............! (I can always dream!)

Exactly as described. Very close to the beach and great renters to work with. Would rent this place again.

This place is a few blocks from the ocean, a few more from the pier with breweries and restaurants nearby. It is centrally located to be able to visit San Diego's most popular attractions. Elizabeth and Jonathan are most gracious hosts and we enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful week. The view was amazing and the cottage had everything that we needed. Lots within walking distance. Ocean beach is a querky area with a real local feel.
