About the Property

Classic 4 bedroom beach house on 1.9 private acres.
This peaceful retreat is 90 quick minutes from Seattle, but feels a million miles away. Beautiful grounds with rolling lawns and a full size bocce ball court. There is a buoy for boaters, a private jet dock and three kayaks.
The beach is full of clams, mussels, oysters and crabs and is perfect for beach combing.
Most rooms in this 1939 Cape Cod look onto the Bay, Anderson, McNeil, and Fox Islands, and the distant lights of Steilacoom. The house retains its original charm and has been updated with a cozy gas fireplace, new kitchen, quartzite counters and stainless steel appliances, fresh interiors and a deep soaking tub. The dining and living rooms are great for gatherings, and the remodeled kitchen has everything you'll need to make great meals.
While here, you can walk the beach, roast marshmallows at the beach-side fire pit, paddle to the local nature preserve, play a round of bocce ball or just relax. There is an eagle's nest next door and herons, cormorants, terns, ospreys and kingfishes abound. A pair of seals keep an eye on the house most days, and a pair of deer often flank the bocce ball court.
The house is thirty five minutes from historical downtown Gig Harbor with its beautiful working waterfront, the Tides Tavern, and many other spots to explore or dine. In the summer, visit the charming Lakebay Marina and try its famous fish and chips and burgers.

Beautiful property, private, deer, eagle, birds, fruit trees, coyotes, snow covered mountains, beach, campfires, oysters, clams, seals, porpoises, snow covered mountain, kayaking, fishing, fall foliage, a stunning view from every room, comfortable bedding, gas fireplace, gas grill, the most perfect galley kitchen for those, like me, who LOVE to cook,, washer/dryer in basement with the most beautiful view (I sat on the exercise bike down there and rode while clothes washed, staring at the bay and mountain), dishwasher (but take it from me and WASH those dishes by hand for the view), fantastic local supermarket 16 miles away has EVERYTHING you could possibly need or want with EXCELLENT prices. This was our first time visiting the pacific northwest. While our main goals were to visit Mt. St. Helen, Cape Disappointment, Cape Flattery and Mt. Rainier, which we did, I had no idea I would experience so much more. This was indeed a vacation of firsts for us. So much more than expected. We did drive 3 to 4 hours to and from to those locations we had our hearts set on, but driving to and from was not bad at all. Speed limit there is 60 miles per hour on most interstates. Once exiting onto more scenic roads, the speed limit dropped, obviously, which accounts for time spent driving to and from, BUT WELL WORTH IT! If you venture out to Gig Harbor, eat at Tide's Tavern. Vegan burger was OUTSTANDING. Kids loved their clam chowder and salmon burger as well! We were not able to go whale watching like we had originally planned, due to time and weather, but Port Townsend is only an hour and a half away, so very doable in a day. Although weather is hit and miss in Washington, it is still beautiful. Rain seems to come and go like the wind there, which accounts for the lush forests and gardens I saw. I love country life and this place is set in an area that boasts so many beautiful farms, farm animals and gardens. It was so me and so beautiful. If you enjoy the simple life and appreciate the beauty in everything around you, you'll definitely enjoy staying here. DO NOT make the mistake and sleep in or you'll miss magnificent sunrises! Sunrises and Sunsets are magnificent from that deck! Cathy was more than accommodating and was back in contact with me almost immediately when I had questions. We stayed Sept 7 to the 14th and the weather was just perfect. Drive to and from Seattle airport was a little over an hour. Published Sep 16, 2019 Owner's Response: Connie, thank you for your lovely review. I so enjoyed having your family stay at the house. It was such fun texting with you and hearing your enthusiastic reactions to the property and the area. You could teach a master class on being a fun, appreciative guest. Please do come back! We'll get you out to see the whales next time, and I'll do my best to arrange drier weather:)

Beautiful property with gorgeous views. Our favorite part was waking up each morning and drinking our coffee on the deck while looking out over the Puget Sound. Cathy was more than accomodating and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be back!

We had a short 2-night stay but it was so enjoyable. What a special place mixing old with new and so fully stocked. Working with owner was a breeze. And the views!! Wow! We highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back!
